Biology of microbial ice nucleators

What is the nature of micro-organims and other organisms that can catalyze freezing of supercooled water? This section concerns their basic physiology, genetics and ecology as well as the nature of the cell material (generally a protein) that catalyzes freezing of supercooled water.

Physics of heterogeneous ice nucleation

How do heterogeneous ice nucleators catalyze the freezing of water? This is the place where physicists will help biologists understand the mechanisms involved in the phase change of water from a liquid or a gas to a solid.

Behavior of ice nucleators in the clouds

How do ice nucleators affect cloud processes? Different approaches are used to evaluate this effect: modeling, experimentation and reasoning based on theory. One of the questions in everyone's minds is how they affect snow and rainfall.
